City of Sunnyvale Business Licenses Tax Study Session

Sunnyvale Staff will present to City Council a status overview of the Business Licenses Tax study during the Sunnyvale City Council meeting on Tuesday, April 14, at 7:00 pm.

Through the 2019 study issue process, Sunnyvale City Council directed Sunnyvale staff to evaluate the business license program. The study, by the Finance Department, has looked at the current structure of the business license program, reviewed other business license programs in neighboring cities, and examined various fee structures.  A presentation of the study has been given to various groups, including the MPBG at the March 9th board meeting. Next steps in this process include the study session, feedback from City Council and members of the public, revisions and a decision by Council if to add it to the November 2020 ballot.

To hear the study session members of the public can watch the City Council meeting at sunnyvaleca.legistar.com/calendar.aspx or on KMVT Channel 15.

Business Resources During Covid-19

The economic fallout of sheltering-in-place during the Covid-19 pandemic has disrupted many companies. In the most extreme cases, companies have had to close and lay off employees. While you might not find your organization in this situation, you may know vendors, contractors, and other organizations who are. Therefore, you may be able to help local businesses by sharing these available resources.
